Samsung Galaxy Tab Headphone Jack
« on: June 12, 2017, 06:29:56 pm »
It's pretty much brand new, but for some reason, the headphone jack decided to stop working. (crappy modern tech  ) I assume the solder joints just failed, but without a pry tool, I have no idea how to get it open. Any ideas?

If solder joint really failed, it's a crappy user who abuses the jacks by putting force sideways. Like dropping with jack inside or putting into a bag with jack inside. In the past I've seen single phone arriving to warranty repair multiple times. First time connector soldered back, second time warranty reject as it's get broken off the PCB together with pads on the PCB. In any case most likely it's on a flex cable which is damaged by itself and can be replaced without soldering.

If it has a warranty never try to fix phones/tablets yourself. First of all it's not that easy in many cases, as there may be tons of things attached by adhesive. But the most important is no access to genuine parts.

TS didn't say what model it is, but the parts are normally easy available.

Did you miss the word GENUINE? Of course there is a load of crap from China. If, for example, you buy samsung OLED display where are no 3rd party parts, most likely it will be recycled e-waste made to look as new. On top of that something might not fit, adhesives separate after a few days and similar. Probably not as bad with FPC cables, but still not genuine and a lot of crap parts available.
