Asus Cromebook C214M: Can I use a generic USB-C charger?
« on: September 08, 2020, 05:42:43 am »
I am trying to fix an Asus Chromebook. I don't have the provided charger. Can I use a generic USB-C  charger to troubleshoot USB-C powered devices?

Probably not - USB-C can supply power at different voltages - 5V, 9V, 15V & 20V - the charger for my ThinkPad supplies all four of these allowing me to connect my Samsung phone to it, but the Samsung charger only supplies 5V & 9V so that it won't power the ThinkPad - it all depends on what the Asus requires.
