Tek Scope Probe Repair

First and foremost, I'm mainly doing this as a learning exercise, i already have enough working probes to handle my day to day

One of my older fixed X10 probes has a partial breakage at just past the stress relief, about half the sheilding is still intact, and the probe itself still functions

I am wondering if there is any better way to fix it that putting 4:1 heatshrink over the probe and down the wire?
e.g. is there any kind of inline splice crimp for this kind of thing, or a way to reverse out the original crimp and loose 2 inches

The cable is probably part of the divider network so cutting off a piece is likely not a good idea. What I would try is peeling a bit of the plastic from both ends of the break, get some shielding from another cable to put over the gap, then heat shrink and be done.

Thanks for the advise, it actually makes a very sturdy repair.

I trimmed 5mm back on either end, then tightly wound copper braid around it and i am just waiting on more stock of 12mm 4:1 heatshrink to seal it over, but so far it maintains most of its original flex, which considering it failed right next to the stress relief is needed,
