Data I/O model 201 Eprom programmer.
« on: March 22, 2022, 11:19:28 pm »
I purchased a Data I/O model 201 eprom programmer recently and the keypad got damaged in shipping. Would anyone here happen to have spare key parts for this type of keypad?

It's those small white bits that I'm looking for.

It doesn’t look to me like anything is actually broken or missing (though hard to tell since your photos are blurry), the sliders have just popped out, and a few keycaps came off. You should be able to just reassemble it.

Those switches look like they’re uncovered Cherry M8 switches. That page has diagrams and pictures of the internal, disassembled.

At least you know what switch type to search for if you need replacements. I very much doubt you can buy individual switch parts, especially for switches as old as these.

It's the small white bits that connect the key caps to the switch that are broken in two. I need 4 of the, the ones still on the switches were ok and I was able to pop the key caps back on those ones.

I will try to find an old computer keyboard with those kind of switches and salvage the switches.

Given how rare keyboards with that switch are, wouldn’t it be infinitely easier to just go on eBay and buy some switches??

See if any modern, available mechanical keyboard switches (and caps) are a drop in and go that route?

POSTING UPDATE :

Thanks to tooki for suggesting that I check Vintkey.  :-+ They have the Cherry M8 keypad  switches. I purchased the replacements and they arrived today. I removed the damaged switches and installed the replacements from Vintkey.

After fitting them on the keypad board and soldering them, I re-installed the keypad into the programmer and all works well as it should. My Data I/O 201 saved and restored for use. Thanks again to tooki and Vintkeys for their excellent service!  :-+ :-+ :-+
