Imax B6 clone mosfet replacement
« on: September 09, 2017, 04:35:39 am »
Hey guys.
So I had a few glasses of wine and decided to charge a lithium battery using alligator clips....  |O
A sane person would see the issue here but alas I'm clearly not that bright.

Long story short I connected a 6 cell lithium battery in reverse polarity........  :-//

I know its cheap, I know I can just get another and I know it's more trouble than it's worth. Alas I want to repair it.
It seems to have blown the neg rail mosfet (judging by pinout).

However I cant find any info on the fet nor can I read the breed as it is a little crusty.
Does anyone know with certainty the part number? The genuine schematic suggests it may be a 6680 n fet.

Kind regards,

Mine clone is currently doing a 20 hour discharge test on an SLA. If you don't get any help I'll whip the cover off tomorrow and have a look, but the clones are usually a direct copy so I'd suggest whatever is in the original schematic will do.

Cheers mate.
Yeah I was thinking it is likely a direct clone. If you can rip the top off and have a look the would be awesome.
I would rather replace it with the exact same therefore limiting any other issues.  :scared:

Cheers

here is the useful link;

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/fake-imax-b6-repair/msg1133704/#msg1133704

Its a N Channel Mosfet

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4pcs-Original-AO4468-4468-N-Channel-Enhancement-Mode-FET-Alpha-Omega-SOP-8-/261012270586?hash=item3cc58b2dfa:m:mI4KQW4YlRZ-vTvypNSWRWA

Thank you, I did skim that thread and missed the N-chan part. I thought it was all about the P-chan.
I ordered 10, hopefully that fixes it.
Thanks again.
