Repairing a gtx 770 from MSI with missing caps
« on: July 21, 2020, 09:09:38 am »
I was able to get a GTX 770 for cheap and so, it was broken, it would not give any picture on the screen so after taking a look at the board, I was able to see that there ware a lot of missing caps and rezistors. Those are from the ram modules and also from the main gpu. I took an old dead gpu and started to took components from one board and solder them to the other one. (If I needed a cap fir the ram, I was loking for the same size and same aproximate placing of the cap on the other board)

Now, the board kind of works but not perfectly. It tooks 10 second for the board to boot up with an image, then, it will display the image but with a lot of little white lines on sectors so it may be because of the ram, eight?. After that, when the PC boots up, checking with gpu-z, I don't get all the info from the board and so, there are three fields that don't have any info on them: Memory size, Bandwidth and Bus speed.

What may cause that?
