HP5468B Repair
« on: November 19, 2023, 04:45:30 pm »
Powered up my HP54610B scope yes terday after it had been sitting around for a few months. Zip, nothing. No front panel lights and no display. The fan was running really slowly so the power supply probably isn't completely dead.

Disconnected each PCB in turn and it appears to be a main board fault as the fan runs at full speed when the main board is disconnected.

For starters I will have to check +5, +12 and -12 at the power supply with main board disconnected. As there are about 30 tantalum caps on the main board, I hope it's a shorted ps a shorted tantalum cap.

Will let you know later on.

Cheers
Chris

You are very likely on the right track.  I have often found at least ONE burned tantalum in those scopes.  Love those scopes, though.   :-+
