fluke 83v backlight

Hi all,i have a fluke 83v,it works great except recently i needed to turn on the lcd backlight as i was in poor lighting conditions,it beeps when i press the backlight button but thats it,the backlight doesent actualy turn on,i havent pulled it apart yet as been too busy,as i dont have any schematics etc i thought i would ask here,just wondered if this was a common/ known faul?,cheers in advance.

I would suggest cleaning and re-seating the connection to the backlight.

This is a fairly common symptom.

found the issue,the backlight is an smd led,it has suffered water damage along with a couple of tracks,one end of the led has the connection eaten away,i have repaired the tracks but need to replace the led,its as near as i can tell 3mm long and 2mm wide,would anyone know the number of the part as in 0605 etc,cheers Paul.

well i just ordered some 5730 smd leds,should be good i imagine.
