Nooelec HDSDR Smart front end
« on: November 16, 2021, 12:21:52 am »
I recently forgot my sdr connected to a nearby antenna that had about 1kw to it and it seems the front end of my sdr is now dead.  I can hear my HT on it, but none of the nearby stations come in, not even the weather.  I assume that the transistor right at the RF connector is the culprit.  I tried to identify the junctions, but only get a .7v drop across one set of pins.  I want to try replacing this transistor, but I have no idea what it is.  It is labeled "WAT 85".  Does anyone have a clue what transistor that is or if I am even looking in the right area?

Thanks!

ESD protection diode not a transistor.

If it's shorted from the RF input to ground, then it would be the culprit. If not, the R820T chip is likely damaged.

There does not appear to be a short to ground at the ESD device.  I see the 820 is discontinued. I saw a site that said the 860 is a direct drop in but I cannot find either for sale. :(
