looking for a replacement graphic LCD display
« on: April 20, 2023, 02:12:35 am »
I have a ~22 year old piece of test equipment with a cracked display. The display is a 160x160 pixel monochrome LCD, part number PVG161603G, which is of course unobtainable, and the manufacturer of the test equipment is now defunct.

I'm familiar with character LCD display modules, most of which are HD44780 compatible so are somewhat standard, but I have no experience with these graphic LCD modules. Are they also fairly standard or not really?

This display uses four HD66206 drivers. I have searched for 160x160 displays using this driver but came up pretty much empty.

Is there anything currently available that would be a compatible replacement, or am I pretty much out of luck?

Here maybe?  https://www.invshop.com/pvg161603g-lcd-display-25934.html
120$

$217 CAD once you add shipping costs... ouch! This equipment is not even worth that much.

This might be one for the e-waste bin sadly.

I am familii only with two types, a NewHaven (NHD12864) and a Sitronics (65x132, ST7567) based one.  They are different.  The pinouts are similar, but not identical.  Screen layouts as to pages (8x8) and columns are the same.  Control codes are similar, but not identical.  If the pinouts are the same, it may work, but there's a good change it won't.  If the pinouts are different, there is probably no chance, even if you made an adapter pcb.  Of course that advice is based of a set of 2 only.
