Finding old oscilloscope parts
« on: February 26, 2017, 10:25:12 pm »
So, I have a Goldstar 9100P analog scope, and I quite like it.  Unfortunately, though, the time base B switch is physically destroyed.  While looking for spare parts on ebay and the like I found entire oscilloscopes being sold for spare parts, and the shipping/asking price was pretty crazy for a single switch.

Are there any good sources for obsolete parts like this, in particular oscilloscope parts?  I guess this is the problem with getting a less famous brand of scope for cheap.

That's the problem; there's a whole subculture devoted to vintage big name scopes like Tektronix and HP. I can still get NOS knobs and transistors today for my doorstop, but for a lesser known brand? Not so easy.

Best bet is to shop for modern knobs, things like shaft sizes and set screws are still the same.

There WILL be members with Goldstar scopes in various states of repair so place a WTB ad in the forums Buy/Sell/Wanted.

Oh, great idea.  Hadn't noticed such a forum.  Just new here.  Thanks.
