Focusrite 6i6 component ID question
« on: May 14, 2020, 06:38:38 pm »
Hi, I have a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 audio interface that recently stopped working, it no longer powers up.  I've owned it for over two years and it had been working fine.  There was an obvious burning smell coming from the module. I found a blistered component near the DC input section (it's powered from a 12VDC supply), but I can't identify the component marking.  It's a 10 pin surface mount device,  reference designator U9, marked as "7UHM  619". Photo attached.  Any thoughts on the actual component vendor/PN?

thanks,

AJ

Update on my part ID question -  I figured this part must be some type of DC-DC converter, and based on other Focusrite repair threads, guessed it might be a Monolithic Power or OnSemi part.  Before posting to the EEVBlog, I also sent a query to Focusrite earlier last month, not expecting to get any useful reply.  I did receive a reply from Focusrite tech support this morning - the component in question is a MP2227 QFN10 Step-down regulator 24V, made by monolithic power.  Focusrite even offered to send me a replacement part at no charge.   My component ID question is solved, and my appreciation goes out to Focusrite's technical support team, I did not expect that level of service.
