TFT 8,4” fading black/white - power problem
« on: August 31, 2018, 12:31:08 am »
Have a 8,4” TFT monitor with touchscreen (discarded from work) which is not working. Attaching link to Youtube-clip.

https://youtu.be/EssMpw3KcBQ

The monitor is fed with 24V from a lab power supply, so there is nothing wrong there. Have visually checked all caps on the graphic card - all seems ok. The ribbon cable connecting the graphic card with the actual screen has dried out at both ends (this screen has been used for 10 year in a engine room onboard a passenger ferry, so HOT!) but I’ve managed to isolate them so there is no short circuit.

The things that the screen acts like in the YouTub-clip EVERYTIME I turn on the power. For a short time the screen works (displays ”No signal”) but then dies...

Is this a power problem or something with the TFT-display itself? Any input before I get into soldering off the caps och power supplys on the graphics card?
