Help with part ID
« on: January 13, 2021, 06:35:44 pm »
Having trouble identifying and locating source for electronic component from a sewing machine. It looks like a mini transformer and only marks on it read TYP 90 40/96. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I'll try researching common mode chokes. Thanks for your input.

Common mode chokes are often used to suppress line noise.  They are used in conjunction with two more capacitors.  This looks different to me.  But, I don't have a better idea.
Can you determine what it is connected to?

Thanks for your help. The traces from the four pins of this component lead to resistors, a capacitor, and a diode. (as far as I can tell with my limited knowledge)

It appears that the component designations are marked on the board.  Is there one for this component?  Often the prefix is a clue.  Q = transistor, R = resistor, D = diode, etc.

Looks like U145...

I think it's U145.

Looks like this board (top left): https://www.drdanessmh.com/berninahelectronbds1.html

You can buy the service manual for $12: https://berninamanuals.com/Bernina_Service_Manuals.htm

Thank you for your suggestions and links. The board pictured says its for a model 1090. I'm not sure if it'll work for a 1260 which is what I'm trying to repair. I have also looked at boards for a model 1230 on ebay, which are similar, but have slight differences in the circuitry.
