SMD Capacitor Value?
« on: September 13, 2018, 04:51:27 pm »
I am doing a repair and I am very confused about the on chip numbering.

A capacitor reads 226V 40372

Looking up this part I have 22uF 40Volt   ( Vishay ) ?

But another lookup reference says AVX  22uF 6Volt

Not sure which is correct.

It's OK Johnny10, you can still keep your membership here.  ;)
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

To be sure  measure the supply voltage(s) ... and choose the right vcc specs

To be sure  measure the supply voltage(s) ... and choose the right vcc specs

That is a smart decision *BUT*  it will not solve the overall problem

It has become an increasingly  and dangerously problem to deal with todays
"MODERN"  part  descriptors.

OLD SCHOOL parts are responsible marked and chances to make mistakes are small

What will prevent a mistaken part being fitted at production as these "MARKS" or codes
are absolute obscure and non trivial ?

The result of a BAD MLCC  just exploding with a 9V bat change.

From a DMM, removed the old... inserted the new BAT .. power .. BOOM!

I can read like xx06 from what is left but without the proper voltage rating...

Only your advice of measuring to be sure.  Yes it makes sense - each day more sense
I did that to replace that with a proper robust THT

SMD has become a dangerous stuff. like this one
