NEC MultiSync PA272W
« on: September 23, 2023, 11:52:52 am »
Hi All,

I'm trying to repair a NEC MultiSync PA272W professional monitor. It got hit with a power surge during a lightning storm. No other devices in the same office were damaged, so I think it just got hit with a surge that proved too much for an already aging component. The power supply is dead and one chip has blown its top. It's a 7 pin chip, I think a PWM controller. It's on the primary side of the PSU. I've attached some pictures. Could anyone help me identify this chip? The model number of the PSU board is HKM1102SL32-3A.

Best Regards,
Kurt

Those 7 pin chips are fairly common.
example: LNK304DN

Search for the datasheet and see if it is compatible. Several models, you might have to compare for best fit.

When it fits stop using the hammer

I replaced the unidentified chip with an onsemi NCP12400BBHAB0DR2G. Also replaced one MOSFET and a 10 ohm gate resistor. Monitor works again now  :)
