A friend of mine picked up this CD jukebox. It worked for a little while giving free
plays and then stopped. It passed basic self test but had stored errors, low battery
voltage. Figured I would start by replacing the 2325 3V lithium battery with a CR2025
coin cell and battery holder. The board is spacious so I just pryed the spot welds
from the battery and soldered onto the shortened stubs leaving circuit board intact.
An iron would easily fit under the battery holder with enough space to fit in the case.
I've found the battery holders leads many times don't fit into the existing board
holes. Fired up the unit and it came up with a new checksum error. Cleared all
errors through front panel and then it powered up with no issues. Took a while, but
finally found the section in the manual to allow free plays. Pretty amazing that
the CD mechanism still works on it . NOTE: Removing battery voltage will revert the
higher level passwords to 0000. This will have to be done even if the battery is
good to remove previous passwords.
If you have one sitting in the basement and don't have a manual, the following may
help. I made this quick cheat sheet for future reference. This was a trip down memory
lane. Remember when boards were this spacious? The connectors are poorly labeled
so this plug identifier is included.
