Broken ODAC
« on: February 19, 2018, 10:32:57 pm »
So I've got this headphone DAC/AMP combo called O2/ODAC. After waking up this morning it suddenly heard crackling on the left channel. I ripped the thing apart and took some measurements [10][20] on pins of the DAC chip [30]. There is noise of exactly half the frequency of the 352KHz "charge pump circuit" referenced in the datasheet [40]. Does that ring any bells with anyone?

The thing is, the crackling is audible. This means it's not the 176KHz noise I'm actually hearing. But this noise is only present on the channel I can hear the crackling on.

If some passive component is at fault, I can simply swap it. If it's the DAC that's ruined, I have to trash the board. That would not be the end of the world, but I'd be a shame to trash something only a 10ct part away from functioning. Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.
