Tunable inductor for Moog Theremin
« on: June 11, 2024, 09:31:26 pm »
I've got a Moog Theremin and I need to replace this tunable inductor because its ferrite core is cracked and can't be rotate:

2288167-0

It's a SLOT TEN5-10 from Coilcraft: https://www.coilcraft.com/getmedia/90724f9c-b8a9-4867-9507-a749f251f08c/slot10.pdf 47uH nominal (20uH-60uH range) with a fairly low Q=32.

Unfortunately I can't find it: it was quite uncommon at its heyday, discontinued by manufacturer and no longer available.
No one is selling nos parts on ebay (Europe).
Any suggestion?

Do not be to fussy
Usually sumthing that is ruffly the same will work , even if you just swap the slug out of one of the following you should be ok

Yea, I've been definitely to fussy  :-DD

Just bought a new tunable inductor like this one:

Removed the wire and cut away the base with pins, the ferrite core and its plastic sleeve fits perfectly inside the original tunable inductor.
The inductance range is close enough :-+

Great advice, thank you!
