Does the beam finder on the 7904 increase trace intensity?
« on: June 12, 2024, 07:00:03 pm »
Hi,

I have a 7904 that I think may have a faulty beamfind. The issue is that the z-axis does not brighten up when the button is depressed.

When I look at the schematic, I can see something going off the the z-axis logic IC, but I can't figure out whether that means it should intensify or not. Theory of Operations and how to use doesn't tell me anything either on the intensity part.

So does the beam find on the 7904 intensify the trace?

Thanks,

Benjamin

On my 7904, the intensity does not change with the beam finder.  All I get is a shrunken down display that is out of focus (although the numerical readout stays focused).

That is the exact same thing that my 7904 does. I guess it's safe to assume that my 7904 doesn't have any faults.

Thank you!
