Keysight MSOX3104T Firmware upgrade failure

So I have a msox3104t scope that works fine but when attempting a firmware upgrade scope loads from USB fine starts process lights flash screen goes off comes back on like normal. When scope boots up it says upgrade failed. I successfully upgraded firmware a few months ago with no issues. I saw there was another update so I wanted to install it. The only different thing is that I started the 30-day demo of all software licenses available. Could this be an issue??

What version do you have now and what version are you trying to upgrade to?

Current firmware = 7.35.2020120822

Attempted Firmware = 7.40.2021031200

That is pretty strange. You mentioned you added the demo licenses - have you ever added any hacked licenses or firmware?

Have you tried to reinstall the current firmware?

No, I have only used files directly from the Keysight website. I was going to try to download and reinstall the same version but it is no longer available. And the 30-day trial was already on the scope you just hit the button to start the trial so I never had to download separate license files.

Unless you want to open it up and connect to an internal serial port to really know what is happening you might have to contact Keysight support.

I unpacked the firmware and was checking out the update script looks like it's failing right after a checksum check. Look at this error
     "<message>Firmware update failed (aux -v).</message>"
Also, I have no problem opening this up and connecting to the serial port I would love to check it out. I did try numerous different USB sticks all did the same. What format do they like I was using FAT.

I have talked to Keysight and have found this is an issue with the firmware. I have been given a beta version to fix the problem but they said this issue will be fixed with an October firmware release. I recommend you don't upgrade firmware till the new release.

Had similar issue, hooked up UART and found that a file rename was interrupting the firmware update process:

Were you able to successfully update with the Beta firmware?

I updated my MSOX3104T today to 7.40 from the Keysight website, whilst it was updating I started to catch up with the forum, and read this post. 

After some time, like 10 to 15 minutes, it finally rebooted and is running 7.40 and it was on 7.35 before too.  So far all seems to be OK...
