Half-lit Asus PB287Q Monitor
« on: July 08, 2024, 08:28:53 am »
Hi,

I have a Asus PB287Q monitor and when you turn it on it flashes brightly for a split-second, then only lights up the bottom quarter of the LED strip. When filming in high-speed mode on my phone it seems like all the LEDs do light up for a split second, except for two (see screen grabs attached). One of which pings on as a very last step. Slow-mo vid: https://imgur.com/a/EFas3di

Given my near zero understanding of electronics any advice on what would be the most worthwhile out of the following would be appreciated:

- Try to replace the OZ9998MGN LED controller (it was €1 to buy and should be here in a day or two). I don't have a good justification why I think that might be the issue, I just saw it would be cheap to replace.

- Grab a replacement power board off eBay when one comes up

- Keep poking bits with my multimeter pretending I know what I'm doing

- Something else

Cheers!

In case anyone else has a similar issue, replacing the OZ9998MGN LED controller worked for me 👍
