old B&W crt
« on: March 22, 2021, 01:41:28 pm »
Hi i got a small "gern" crt and no matter how much i adjust the v-hold  it doesn't look any better than in the picture.

I can't for the life of me find any info about this tv or any kind of manual.

Any suggestions for any adjustments i could make?

That is not a vertical hold problem, it is a vertical size or vertical linearity problem. There may be adjustments available on the circuit board. There may also be an out of tolerance resistor or capacitor at the real root of the problem.

find on that pcb your vertical deflection chip tracing the deflection coil, then here you have the datasheet/schematic for V deflection, then you can trace why the V isn't ok
you're lucky, that's the simpliest in the book :)

Vertical foldover.
Had a Toshiba that did that, re-soldering the pins on the vertical amplifier chip fixed it.
When it did it again, put #26 Ga. insulated wires from each pin to the foil pattern.
