Nikon Coolpix P7000 SD card slot repair/replace

Hi everyone:

I dropped my Coolpix P7000 on the ground. It was in a camera bag at the time,
but apparently, that made no difference.

One thing I've noticed since is that the camera doesn't recognize the memory
card. Should I assume that means the card reader  is damaged, or could that
be due to something else?

Has anyone taken apart a P7000? How hard is it to replace the card reader?

Check for cracks in solder joints or PCB tracks.

From dropping it? It only fell a couple of feet, and onto grass
(I think, actually someone else dropped it, but I digress).

Also, I'm not ready to take the camera apart yet. I'm waiting
to order a new LCD screen, cause that was damaged in the
fall too.

If you do take it apart can you let me know where the internal battery is and how much disassembly is required to replace it? And what type of battery it is.

If your internal battery hasn't been replaced then consider doing that while it is open. My P7000 doesn't remember the date-time settings anymore.

Uh, well, uh...I'd be happy to, but I'll have no camera
to take pictures. It's a catch-22 situation.
