GW Instek GDS-2072A - no boot
« on: November 05, 2022, 11:42:17 pm »
Hi,
I have GW Instek GDS-2072A for about 3 years.
Today I had a chance to use it, but it didn't boot for me :(
I haven't used it for about 6 month due to moving to another house.

Where do I start with fixing it?

Thanks

All right, to bring it to life I had to update firmware in safe mode.

Power up the oscilloscope and at the same time, keep rotating the “VARIABLE” knob a number of times until the oscilloscope boots into the firmware upgrade safe mode.

Then I performed SPC Calibration and vertical Accuracy Calibration from the Utility section.

It's funny how the GoodWill Instek scopes tend to get corrupt firmwares so easily.
I once had an older model that had a bad firmware and if you look around it's almost common.
