Aixun Soldering Station
« on: October 26, 2023, 11:24:51 am »
Greetings everyone! Allow me to start off by saying I didn't break anything and the station was shipped to me this way.

I am a owner of a brand new Aixun 420D solder station. The one with 2 handles. It just came in the mail last week. The station came with 1 T245, 1 T210 and 1 T115 handle. I bought a few aftermarket cartridges to play around with.

I have been experiencing issues with my T210 handle. Every time I try to connect my T210 handle to my station it would either 1: Keep disconnecting/reconnecting 2: The temperature of the handle would wig out and jumps all over the place or 3: the temperature stays at where I set it but the power usage of the handle jumps from 0%-80% constantly.

I contacted my vendor (AliExpress) and they sent me a replacement T210 handle after a long conversation. Horrible customer service. The replacement handle still acts the same. I have tried tightening the pins in the handle to make better contact with the station but nothing has changed. Very upset as this is the most needed handle I want. I tried a few aftermarket cartridges also and it still acts the same.

The station is brand new and after tax and everything it came to almost 400$. Very upset and for that price I could have just got a JBC. Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be wrong?  I'm not sure where to get information on this station since it's a Chinese clone and there's basically no customer service. Other than my T210 handle not working, I think it's been great though.

Thanks

This station has firmware updates available, I'd suggest you start there, maybe you'll get lucky and it'd fix it!
Regardless, I think you should've done some more research before purchasing because there's no practical reason to have support for 3 different handles (it's more of a sales gimmick) and a single person surely doesn't need a soldering station that can operate two handles at once (that's more suitable for professional use by 2 people in a repair shop that work in the same room). Also, out of the 3, the T210 has the least amount of power! The T245 handle is best.

hello thank you for the reply. I have updated to the latest firmware right from the get go. I would like to constantly use the T210 and T115 back to back all the time. Rarely use the T245. Having those two handles ready to go off the get go is perfect for my needs.

You're welcome. Anyhow, this this happen only with the T210 handle or with one of the others as well?

only the T210. with multiple carts. they are all aftermarket carts carts albeit one of the is straight from Aixun. Both my 2 other handles work very well. I have ordered another Aixun tip. It will be here Monday. If it does not work I am not sure where to go from there.

here are 2 videos showing it.

Question, did you update the firmware before or after you've realized there's a problem?

after I realized. I then tried downgrading to a few firmwares also hoping an older one would work.

I see. Anyhow, given the fact it works fine with the other handles, I'd say it's less likely to be a problem with the electronics (although, that's still a possibility!). You said you've already tried a replacement T210 handle, but I'd imagine you've got it from the exact same seller, and I'd suspect that maybe it's some kind of manufacturing defect and he had a bad batch. I'd say you should purchase another T210 handle (from a different seller) and see how that goes.

Might be a good idea to also touch up the connector of the T210 handle (from the inside of the station), I mean, add some solder to each pin on the PCB, in case there's a cold/cracked solder joint.

There is a similar problem on an Aixun T3A doing this on Badcaps. Read that:

No, I was referring to the connector on the station itself, reflow that (clearly, you're gonna have to open it up first(

Hi

I bought a T3B with a T210 handle a few years ago but never used it because I keep getting the message “tip not connected” (or something similar).

But now I do want to use it so I need to fix this thing.
When I pull slightly at the cable just behind the handle, it reconnects so there must be some bad contact in the handle itself.

Does someone has a reference on how to open the handle ?

Tnx.
