Hello,

I just bought a TDS7404 and it appears I have no trigger on channels 1 and 2 and SPC Fails. So I guess am looking for a trigger chip 156-8278-00.  Where can I get one from ? I am hoping some kindly soul on here will sell me one .

KR, Hazel

trigger chip is Unobtainium. |O The owner of a non-triggering TDS74xx is always on the road looking for a trigger chip.  :o :o :o

@hazelnutsky

yep  have to find them on any tek pcb you may find ....  6k series have them ...

but i would say     check the VxWork  log  while booting  etc ... to be sure  it/they  don't respond to the hardware scan ... , you have an 10 pin idc console port you need to connect to

and theses 7k series may too suffer some eeprom corruption too on acq board,  who may or will spit some errors in SPC tests,  you have to be sure all tests have been done and verified too

and the famous nvram battery who dies, it depends on witch chip version you have, and if it died   you lost some configs and need to put them back  if tekscope crash while starting,   if not   you may be lucky ...

you have an huge tds7k serie thread here
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/tek-csa7404-repair-project/

and another thread
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/tek-tds7404-calibration-debugging/

pls  dont double post, if you are tempted, you'll not be loved

I guess I _could_ start a new thread for this.  I built an RS232 interface, and now I can see this , which I think means the NVRAM is dead?

tds7404 i restarted, dead battery, eeprom corruption on acq board (gave spc errors)  now all is fine no errors. ram upgrade and new hdd

[VxWorks Boot]: ?
 ?                     - print this list
@                     - boot (load and go)
 p                     - print boot params
 c                     - change boot params

g adrs                - go to adrs
 d adrs[,n]            - display memory
 m adrs                - modify memory
f adrs, nbytes, value - fill memory
t adrs, adrs, nbytes  - copy memory
 e                     - print fatal exception
n netif               - print network interface device address
 N                     - set ethernet address

type c  and enter,  you should begin to do the settings like this :  and your entries should be after .....
see in bold, at first you'll see what they are by default,  you put yours ....
If you do a mistake  you can go back  or redo the settings loop ...

Hi,

I am sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I just couldn't find it.  Where can I find into on this RS-232 cable, and what it hooks to in the analyzer?  What is the voltage?  TX, RX, GND only?

Any help appreciated!

Austin

- Update Found it here:

https://github.com/exit-failure/tds7000/blob/main/NVRAM/README.md

I think this is what I'm looking for.
