The Best Full bridge control IC
« on: November 26, 2023, 05:28:08 pm »
We need to do Full Bridge, 120W, Vin = 90VDC, 24Vout, FSW 100-200kHz we'll see.
We need overload protection.
Its best to just use a cheap, simple , 8pin, single output, current mode controller (one that has inbuilt overload protection) and add D Type, Buffers, Dual Analog switch and FET drivers…as attached..
But nobody does this.

There is no offTheShelf Full Bridge driver IC with  inBuilt Overload protection….the extra components here are cheaper than having a Full Bridge control IC with the added components to do overload protection.
So why is it not done? (I take many apart...nobody do this.)

It is quite weird configuration. Why not use halfbridge or HB-LLC?
From the other side there are full bridge phase shift integrated controllers, it seems to be overdesigned but it will work.

I've used the LTC3722-1 quite successfully on several designs.

Yes, that one is very good. No need for all these external components.

FTTS: FW br is nuts for such low W.

The simple engineers solution: Use a flyback or foward, ONE device, no floating drives.
