How does the Tesla battery impact the economics of solar?

Given this new innovation, does this make home solar even more affordable?

It would be interesting to hear dave's take on the idea since he has so much good experience with a pretty good size solar system at home.

The tl;dr version is: it's good only if the panels and batteries are manufactured near where they are deployed, and that they are manufactured in a country with low-carbon energy.
