Looking for Power Supply
« on: July 06, 2021, 12:49:29 pm »
Hi,

I'm looking for a power supply for a Raspberry Pi type device. Question is, how do you know what power supply is good and which one isn't? What should you look for? Cheap Chinese ones make me sweat. I wish there was some sort of Computer PSU gold/platinum/silver rating.

What vout and pout do you need?
Also, what is your power source, Mains or battery?
'Perfection' is the enemy of 'perfectly satisfactory'

Just get a good quality smartphone charger, for example Anker.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Ikea stuff will at least be safe!

Pi's tend to be rather sensitive about their supply voltage, it needs to be at the top end of the 5V tolerance range (up to 5.25V) for reliable operation, particularly if powering any Hats.

The official Pi power supply is rated 5.1V @ 3A.  Actually, why don't you buy an official one? They're not expensive and you'll have peace of mind.
Best Regards, Chris
