Which cheap UV cure torch on eBay (Australian stock)?
« on: July 22, 2020, 04:59:05 am »
I'm hoping some one can point me at a UV torch for glue curing on eBay with Aussie stock. Resin ended up getting cured all over the lens on my little Bondic UV torch fob thing and it now takes ages to cure.

It seems the torches need to be 395nm or thereabouts.

There's a pile of cheap ( sub $10) 9 LED torches on eBay but I don't know if they'll cure the resin. Maybe the beam is too diffuse.

BCF and Annaconda both sell $15 UV torches for use in fishing but they don't indicate the wavelength.

Any Aussies bought one that worked well?

Sheesh Blueskull $100, I'm not that keen!

Maybe I'll try and clean up my keychain LED and transplant the LED into a torch body.

Worth mentioning, if you're going for a cheapy, don't expect for it to live up to its specs.

I got one of those ~$10 USD 365nm "5W" flashlights, this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-1-2PCS-High-Powered-UV-Lamp-Black-Light-Ultra-Violet-Flashlight-365nm-5W-LED/303349748350 , that lived up to none of its claims.  Even on the brighter setting it's a pretty dim illumination, and not because my eyes can't see it... it measures like 394nm on the spectrometer so it's clearly not the LED binning they're claiming either.  It's also clear from the kinds of things that fluoresce that it's not a short wavelength of UV.

Haven't actually used it for curing, but I got it with the intent to use it on some of the curable solder mask you can get, it will probably do the job, just with longer cure times than you'd hope for.

Convoy S2+ UV 365nm not available?

https://convoy.aliexpress.com/store/330416/search?SearchText=uv+flashlight

PSA: If ordering from the US, either of the two with LG leds with ZWB2 filters are subject to custom seizure. Some American has a patent on using a ZWB2 filters with UV lights.
