Choosing the right power supply for many fans.
« on: November 28, 2019, 07:13:35 am »

Hello People

I'm building a product that drives 6 x 2.4 amps fans. Add in a another 1amp for leds and pumps etc your at 15.4amps at 12v

The big requirement is that its splash proof. When you search for those requirements you end up at LED drivers. I'm thinking say a Meanwell ELG-200-12-3Y at 16 amps  or the hlg-240-12 or one like that.

But then I got to thinking is a LED driver power supply right, will that cause issues? The Fans will be PWM driven for a short period as they ramp up speed. But after that it's just full power.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Tim
