What happened to Lyontek LY68L6400 PSRAM?
« on: September 13, 2023, 09:00:03 pm »
Once widely available, particularly for various ESP project, it seems to have disappeared from LCSC. Did demand dry up, someone go after them for a patent violation,  Covid kill them, merge with someone else, ...

It was useful for a few MB of buffer at medium speed with a simple interface.

Thanks

PSRAM normally only has a lifetime of a couple of years, then it's replaced by SRAM.
Plenty of 64 Mb SPI SRAMs out there:

?
Their data sheet says

The IS66/67WVS8M8FALL/BLL are integrated memory device containing 64Mb Pseudo Static Random Access Memory using a self-refresh DRAM array organized as 8M words by 8 bits.

and 'plenty' will be true in the future ?  Not sampling until Q4 2023

So?
I'm neither PartMiner nor findchips. My link may have been suboptimal, admitted, ISSI ain't bleeding edge.

I just pointed out why PSRAM has a short lifetime.

Now it's your turn to provide something constructive, if you can.

My mistake, it's just another PSRAM...

This one is true SRAM (no refresh pauses) but more expensive:

Interesting part.
Are you sure that is true SRAM ? It has a strange CE# limitation, seen on the PSRAM parts.

tCEM CE# low pulse width < 4 μs

It's a normal psram, just a terribly low detailed datasheet.
Quote
4.6 Command termination
All All Reads & Writes must be completed by CE# LOW to HIGH.
This CK# rising edge is the trigger to terminate the activated wordline for the read/write and set the device into standby.
Not doing so will block internal refresh operations until the device sees the read/write wordline terminated.

Another equivalent is APS6404L available from Mouser.

Interestingly, the Lyontek website still lists LY68L6400 as mass production.

And aliexpress is selling some counterfeits (which also don't work)...

You probably won't get an 8 megabyte SRAM for $1 (small qty) :) Actually I do not believe any such device exists... just spent an hour digging around. There are only PSRAMs e.g.
APS6404L-3SQN QSPI PSRAM
which you can get from Mouser, and the price is similar to the LY68 part (which seems to come only from Aliexpress nowadays). On a quick look it looks identical and even the device ID (0x0d 0x5d) is the same!
