I'm looking for an IC that offers a USB to UART bridge together with a USB Type-C PD controller. The only chip I've come across so far is the FTDI DT232HPQ, but the datasheet is honestly not that great. From what I can gather an external EEPROM is required for operation in anything but the standard USB PD mode 5V/3A. I'd assume that EEPROM needs to be programmed somehow as well so I'd still need a specialized programmer.
Are there any other chips that offer USB Type-C PD support and a USB to UART bridge? This is for an ESP32 project which would really benefit from a combination of the two. Given how convenient of a solution this is I'd imagine there would be more than one suitable chip on the market.
Do you know of any crowd favorites for this kind of solution?
