Running TINA-TI in Linux Using Wine
« on: June 12, 2013, 03:32:03 am »
I want to start off by saying that this may not be the best place to ask this question, but I figure this might be the best place to run into someone who had the same problem.

My work has everyone use Linux or Mac OS, I am using a Linux machine with a slightly modified version of ubuntu.  I am trying to tun TINA-TI through wine, however when I type:

wine Tina90-TIen.exe

Into the command prompt it gives me an error saying that it can't find a module.  I know this is vague but I am at home now and can't get the specific error, I promise I will post the whole thing in detail tomorrow.  The Wine page says that it will run, has anyone else had this problem?

Which version of WINE? Is there any other software installed in the WINE directory? And which version of Windows is it set to?

Could it be a C or VB Runtime that's missing ?

I usually install VB6 Runtime in Wine

Just install this VB6 Runtime first (via wine) , i did specify C:\windows as installpath
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290887

But i haven't tried TINA , just LTSPICE , ans that's ok

So the specific error that I am getting when I run the install file from wine in the command prompt is this:

fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" (6.0.0.0)
fixme:storage:create_storagefile Storage share mode not implemented.
p11-kit: couldn't load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

After that an error window pops up, I attached a screen capture of it.

I am using the most recent version of WINE, and I had installed nothing else with WINE at that time.  I did however go ahead and install LTspice, which works fine.  I will try installing the VB6 runtime and see if that fixes it.

I'll mess with it a bit later to check, but in the meantime, try installing the common controls library:

Code: [Select]
wget http://winetricks.org/winetricks
sh winetricks comctl32 comctl32ocx

Not sure if that's included with the VB6 runtime or not.

Er... what version of WINE is the "latest"? The latest stable? Latest development? Latest in the Ubuntu repo? What's the output of "wine --version"? Because I just installed it in a clean WINEPREFIX under Wine 1.4.1/Debian 7.0 x86_64 and it works perfectly as far as I can tell.

I am using Wine version 1.4.

I ran the commands provided by c4757p and I am still getting the same error.

The best thing to do is install Windows XP in a virtual machine. Virtual box (free!) works like a charm. I tried Wine as well as a generic Windows replacement but it just isn't up to the job.

I'm quite sure the cure for the listed error was shown in the url i posted above

But then again a real XP in a Vbox engine is hard to beat.

I just prefer to use wine if possible.

I've installed a couple months ago, to never use it  :palm:
But its running.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.2 64 bits with wine1.4, winetricks 20120308, and the following libraries
Code: [Select]
$ winetricks list-installed
comctl32
corefonts
dotnet20
mdac27
mdac28
mfc42
msvcirt
msxml3
vc2005express
vcrun6sp6
vcrun6

I have however some issue: the window dissapears of the ctrl-tab list when minimized, I restore by right-clicking on the window list -> minimize, and again ->maximize/un-minimize

Tell me if there is any other information you need.
The TINA version is:
Version 9.3.50.40 SF-TI
