Unknown automotive blade connector...
« on: September 17, 2014, 04:43:07 am »
Hey guys,
I know the chances are slim but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Does anyone know if it's possible to source this connector and it's mate?

The connector is from a 2014 Honda Odyssey minivan's power drivers seat.  It's on the seat adjustment switch module PCB.  This connector then goes to the cable assembly that connects to the power and each of the 4 adjustment motors.
There are no markings at all on the connector.

The switch module part number is 81650-S3V-A01ZH
I think the cable assembly it mates with has the part number 81606-TK8-A22
It's really hard to tell from the spare parts diagram what things are.

Anyways, I took a bunch of measurements and did this drawing in the hopes someone knows of a source or something similar.
It looks like Molex has some blade connectors like this but the pitch is not right.

It appears this same power seat switch module has been used for a number of years.  I want to avoid the pick-a-part route if I can, but I know that's an option.

Lets see what you come up with.  Thanks ahead of time!

::Edit::
I left of a dimension.  The whole thing is 1.11 inches long.

Most car companies make custom connectors. Just buy one on line.

Or order some obscure models from conpanies like TE connectivity, Amphenol etc, which you cannot buy in low volumes anyway.
I love the smell of FR4 in the morning!

You can generally buy the connectors from the vehicle dealer as they are listed in the parts catalog for the car!  Obviously they are more expensive than getting one from the usual electronics wholesalers, but if you only need one or two and they are difficult  to find connectors this maybe a good option.

Or go to the scrapyard and get the whole module.

I know you can find the module from the dealer.  One of the links was to all the replacement parts you can buy direct from Honda.  Unfortunately they only let you buy the module and 60 bucks is a lot for one blade connector.  Plus I'd have to get the matching cable harness for another 70 bucks or something just to get the mate.

I wonder if I can get some individual female blade mates and make my own multi-pin female mate with some epoxy putty or something.

I just had the ... DUH!!!... moment...

3D printed automotive connectors seem like a slam dunk.  Who wants to print me a mate if I make the CAD model?
