Testing EtherCAT
« on: March 06, 2024, 11:39:15 am »
I want to test if my EtherCAT master hardware is working correctly.
What is my best approach here?
Get a module like a LAN9252 and  |O with the firmware or just get an already ready to use EtherCAT slave sensor module? Is there a third option?

For a company: Someone (Tek?) make a great oscilloscope with an honest to goodness 10/100 Mbit Ethernet serial decoder. See if you can borrow one for a week of evaluation.

Or for us mortals who can’t borrow one, I recommend getting two basic but compliant EtherCAT slave units. Start with just one, and once you think you’re working move to two…
