New project need advice on the best way to start
« on: January 02, 2017, 12:40:22 pm »
this is my project i need to make a portable version of this for my wife
http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/en/revitive-advanced-performance-circulation-booster?gclid=CLbE9NS5o9ECFeUy0wodTkoNag

i need to make thisa a potable unit so my wife can use this when she is working as it does help with her diabetes and her foot pain but she cant take it around with her

here are some measurements i have taken from the machine when it its working on the settings she requires

3.604vAC
06.84mA AC

the device will be connected to the skin via the connectors you see on the above image i used to get the readings

This pulses every second or so rising up from zero over a 0.5 second interval

my question is how would you guys start a project like this???

I understand this is a one time made item. Lithium 18650 cells for the batteries as they are widespread and will last for long.
Get a 3D printer and make your own cover with any of the available design tools. With that I'd repackage the electronics inside that unit to make the new more portable one.

Are you asking how to make it battery powered? Or how to make a smaller one?

I would start off with all of the design life-cycle definitions from your wife (the customer), such as:

What are the physical dimensions desired, such as size, weight, etc?
How long and where would this be used (environmental)?
What are the desired power options such as plug into wall, batteries, rechargeable, USB?
What cost?

Etc.

Then I would start with the design to meet the customer needs.  Power, methods of operation, container...
