Supplier for 0.2mm 63/37 Sn/Pb solder in the UK
« on: October 24, 2010, 09:39:19 pm »
Does anyone know of a decent supplier for 63/37 Sn/Pb solder in the UK?

Farnell only seem to carry US stock (and have a £15.95 delivery charge).

I've never heard of 0.2mm solder.  That would be some freaky thin solder.

I had a small bundle of it that I ran out of - I find it's really useful for smaller work, especially things like tacking wires onto fine-pitch chips, where you don't want to overload and then suck up solder.

are you sure its .2mm and not .o2"? .2mm is almost as thin as human hair.

Yep, it says 0.2mm on the packaging, but not the manufacturer.

I've managed to get hold of 32AWG which is close enough!

I picked up some 0.3mm in Akihabara a while ago, which is good for things like touching up QFPs and hand-soldering 0402's - can't say I've felt the need for anything smaller.

Wow. I have a 16 oz. coil of this stuff I got from a fellow modeler years ago that I've been dragging around with me from house to house and continent to continent. I had no idea it was that expensive!
