15 W Qi charger selection help
« on: July 22, 2020, 01:54:40 am »
Hi,
I am trying to integrate a 15W Qi MP-A11 charger into a project of mine, but I am having issues finding the correct part. Has anyone found a 15W Qi MP-A11 they would recommend?

I am currently using a P9242-R for my Qi transmitter and it is working but does not charge Iphone's and Samsung phones up to the 7.5W that it should be able to, it is only charging them at 5W. I suspect that this is because the P9242-R is a MP-A2 transmitter type. All the Iphone/Samsung 7.5 W chargers that I am seeing are transmitter type of MP-A11 or MP-A11a.

The only 15W MP-A11 transmitter Reference design/IC that I have found online is WCT-15W1CFFPD(IC: MWCT1013VLH), but they do not have any of the boards in stock and the schematic is not posted anywhere online.

Also I have been reading the Qi spec and I do not quite understand the difference between the MP-A2 and MP-A11 transmitter design?

it seems to me that any transmitter design can transmit 5W but the Extended power profiles must have a specific type for each RX. is this correct?

Do yall have any thoughts?

Regards,
Michael

Apple apparently does not follow the Qi standard for their 7.5W which is why my charger does not work at 7.5W.

"only companies that partner with Apple (like them) will be able to be certified and have their Qi chargers take advantage of the 7.5w power output."
