Wireless charging for a Fluke ScopeMeter 123
« on: January 17, 2022, 02:45:49 pm »
"They" say the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer.

So here's my answer to why I don't use my Fluke ScopeMeter 123. Its charging/battery solution sucks, literally. It drains its battery continuously while off and sucks it dry so that whenever I try to use it in anger, its already dead. I also don't have an original charger (crazy expensive), the jack is very deeply recessed (meaning normal jacks rarely fit), and the recharge time is hours, perhaps thanks to the NiMH chemistry.

I've seen loads of great work on the forum where people have made (even turned on a lathe!) charging cables, rebuilt battery packs, and even reworked the charger for more modern battery chemistries. But I hadn't seen someone just add induction charging, so here's my attempt.

Let me know what you think and if you have another way of making better use of a scopemeter.
