Need Advice - Power Conversion Question
« on: September 14, 2020, 12:20:16 pm »

I have a need for a  35VDC @ 120mA power supply which needs to be created from a 28V DC supply.  I've been looking at PWM boost converters but feel that there may be another option that I am not aware of.  My big challenge is to keep the design footprint as small as reasonable.

I would appreciate some alternative suggestions as to how an achieve this design.
Thanks
Jim

Boost is simple and alright, the limitation of the simplest design being that it "leaks" the 28VDC input directly through the diode even if it's turned "off", and hence cannot provide short circuit protection; unless you add an extra protected switch.

If this doesn't matter, I'm sure boost will be the smallest and cheapest. I think your spec can be achieved in about 15x15mm area quite easily.
