Is there a project like this? USB macro type of device?
« on: September 13, 2016, 09:58:02 pm »
So today during some development I found myself hitting the same keys over and over and over...well you get it.  Wishing for my "superkey" program from MS-DOS days to automate some repetitive keystroke combinations.

Does anyone know of any projects that involve a microcontroller device that you plug a keyboard into that it in turn plugs into a PC and it can be taught keyboard macros?  Is there software that makes this type of thing not worth doing?  What do you guys use when you need something like this?

I didn't take it apart.
I turned it on.

The only stupid question is, well, most of them...

Save a fuse...Blow an electrician.

Already did exactly that with an Arduino Pro Micro (~$5 for a clone). Google "arduino keyboard" for plenty of examples.

BTW it could be a nice source of laughes, i.e. plugging your device to a victim's computer, randomly sending Ctrl + P then Enter, etc.

It's a widespread security flaw inherent in 99% computer USB ports. Google "evil maid exploit"
