Remove the heatspreader from the CPU (overclockers have done it, so just search), desolder the pins (heat it up with a heat gun or propane torch and rub the pins off with a screwdriver), then solder on a loop of wire and you just made an interesting necklace.
I have found that the best tool for salvaging parts is a soldering gun. For some especially difficult boards, a heat gun to preheat the board (hold it with a vise and set it to low) does a lot to make things easier.
