Need schematic to build a piezo driver 0-150v
« on: December 31, 2017, 09:47:46 pm »
Hi all cracks here, i want to build a piezo driver to control a automative piezoelectric injector .
Here some info:

High voltage drive 160V
Pulse width 160µS÷2000µS with 50µS steps
Injector drive frequency 3.33Hz÷40Hz (default is 16.6Hz)
Maximum piezo injectors drive current 15A
Resistance measurement 0.05ohms÷10ohms
Inductance measurement 10µH÷10mH

Just hack a cheap power inverter.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

You have some schematic with that CI that you provide?
Sorry i am very green in this.

I don't have a schematic. Read though the data sheets I linked to. They all contain example schematics showing how the devices are used. Have a look at what's available via your local electronic component distributor and decide on an IC.

The schematic is often only half the story. The PCB layout will also be very important, given the high current and fast switching times. I appreciate this is daunting.

Isn't driver already incorporated into injector?
It is strange if driving signal is from outside. I haven't experience in car electronics but think if such
signal runs trough cables will be huge source for interference. I would expect that gnd +12v and trigger to be from outside.
Have opened several different ECUs and haven't found ultrasonic pulsers in them.

It is better to re-purpose existing electronics from demolished injector/ecu instead of  designing new one.
Try to cut open some spare and dissect it.

I talk about piezo injectors made by Siemens or Continental, Bosch. They need a control driver unit to test it out of car.
I need such a driver unit to simulate the ECU pulse and frequency.

i found this what do you think?
https://mega.nz/#!jEo3gTCJ!Pn4DxXqjhjkl-_VDkSSEGVIWOP04tLhMxhBYMJFaAjI
Looks sensible to me.

EDIT:
The output current rating is only 1.5A, so is no good on its own.

Sorry but I can't see what is your idea. Do you need do evaluate some injector for future use in cars or industrial equipment?
Or you need to make some kind of test equipment to be used in home garage or small car service?

First would need careful design with precise trimmings that would work over whole temperature range and over voltage noise condition present in car wiring loom.
For that voltage/current rating I think that solution must be with discrete MOSFETs. TI and Microchip have mosfet driver chips that can be used and I have used them in my gas flow metering design.

If you need quick check if some injector taken out form car works that's completely different design objective.
