Touchscreen : how to choose ?
« on: June 30, 2012, 10:32:00 am »
Hi guys,

I am working on a small touchscreen extension to implement into a robot (show debug, command some basic functions, show points to the robot on a map, etc...).
Microcontrollers used are Cortex M3.

I am pretty new to the world of touchscreens and I see there are different types and I very don't know how to choose them, and on which criterion. Ordering on Farnell should be great for me, do you have some interesting references for me as well as random tips ?

Thanks a lot,
Ryl

Hello, if you will use an lcd and touchscreen combo,
I've had luck with 2.8" lcd with 37pins, for example ebay #200659767038, I didnt
buy from this seller and dont know how are their lcd's, but that kind if interface is easy
to find around from multiple sources. Touchscreen interface using the uC itself
it's not hard, but there are also dedicated ic's.
The higher end CM3 can drive the interface directly as a memory mapped
device, for example FSMC of some STM32.

Ciao,
Fabio.
