Low Power ~2x5W Audio Amp for a kitchen radio

Hi,

I am designing now a radio for my kitchen. It will be a simple digital radio using TAE5767 chip module.
As I know totally nothing about Audio and this is the first approach I want to use some KIT for a audio amp.

I found in Poland a 2x5W KIT based in TDA7496, but I am not sure if it is any good and the TDA7496 is unavailable. The TDA8496 looks exactly the same from spec.
Do you know any company that sells cheap audio kits like this, I would like to have more options.

Important is:
 - Volume control (can be digital or voltage)
 - MUTE
 - Would appreciate StandBy

Also I plan to put it in wooden case so the temperature cannot be so big. But if will be a problem I will not install the back.

I have built a small amplifier for my car based on the second one down, it's just a fast op-amp buffered by a pair of transistors but works pretty well.

If you have a 12v or 18v laptop charger around, you could build an aplifier using two tda2050 amplifier chips. These get warm and like higher voltages (but then again so does that 7496)  but at 18v they'll still output about 5 watts of audio power.

This page shows a project with these tda2050 chips but it uses a split power supply ( -24v DC - 0 - +24v DC) : http://diyaudioprojects.com/Chip/DIY-TDA2050-Hi-Fi-Chip-Amplifier/ 

The datasheet shows the circuit to use with a single power supply, in case you want to use some existing power adapter or atx computer power supply or even a power supply pulled from an old 15-17" lcd monitor.

I did one with a TPA1517P chip from texas instruments
enought power 6W for my large kitchen ...
very simple schematic for that.

Anyway I was always looking for the class D, to make one myself. Maybe it is the time now.

I checked also TPA3125 2x10W. There is an EVM board with schematic posted, so I can based on for start. Just would need to add good digi pot for volume

I use a small jst connector for +V GND left and right audio
I didnt use the mute pin so you will have to modify the board a little.

I am close to design my own class-D AMP with TI's TPA3125D2 2x10W AMP
just concerning the volume control - how big difference is if you use linear or logarithmic digital pot at the input?
I think most amp use simple analog linear pot.

Those audio or logarithmic somehow cannot find one that match me.

log pots are better if you're keeping the volume at lower levels.
