Looking for guidance on FCC requirements
« on: November 18, 2017, 05:03:09 am »
Does anybody have a thorough understanding of FCC requirements for consumer products?  I have been researching this for about a week now, and I am trying to understand the various exceptions for kits, sub-assemblies, etc., and I am feeling a bit lost.

We are developing a product that uses a fully certified Qi wireless charger, and I have a few scenarios that I am wondering about.  From what I understand, if we use a certified Qi board/coil module, we do not need to do FCC testing at the component level, but at the finished assembly level(?), to verify everything still complies after our integration into the system?

Another possibility for this particular application is to use a fully off-shelf, finished goods charger and incorporate it into our product.  This would be a unit that is still in its original enclosure, and just integrated into our case, with no other emitters.  In this case, do we need to still certify the product, even if we are using a fully certified, finished product which is still in its original enclosure?

Thank you!

What is the exact definition of "computer" in regards to the FCC? Is that full on desktop and laptop computers, or do mobile devices (phones, ARM tablets) or maybe even microcontrollers of any kind count too?

For pure analog designs without digital clock (defined as no clock is faster than 9kHz), none is required.

Is this still the case if a design uses a pre certified module, but has no clocks over 9KHz outside the module?
