Looking for a replacement for this capacitor
« on: January 17, 2014, 05:42:33 pm »
The pictures are from the power module of an Agilent 6622A power supply. I want to replace the capacitor but I'm not certain what part I should order from mouser/digikey. The Agilent part number is 5060-3218. I haven't found a cross reference of the manufacturer's model # for this.

Any idea what I could use to replace it?

Why do you want to replace it?

The unit won't power up and I suspect a bad capacitor. I haven't yanked it out yet but I'm getting ESR measurements that fluctuate between 4 and 80 ohms for this capacitor. It's possible there are two more blown capacitors on that module.

Yank it and test it. Be aware that there is a resistor across it in circuit.. These caps rarely fail in any manner other than explosively or open circuit, and shouldn't affect operation anyway.

There are two more capacitors. These come up as 328 ohms each on my meter.

They're RFI suppression caps. They really have no functional impact on the power supply.

Thanks for the info. I'll probe around some more and see if I can find out why it won't power up.
