LCD for a watch
« on: January 19, 2012, 02:19:21 pm »
Hello, I'm designing a watch like product and I'm looking for suggestions on LCD for such applications.
The idea I have in mind was to use a general dot matrix LCD with backlight illumination, similar to the metawatch digital model. Of course, lowest energy consumption is better.

I don't seem to find anything like that on Digikey, so I'm looking for you guys suggestions on specific parts or shops specialized in such kind of product.

Thanks for your help,

Fabio Varesano

Sharp Memory LCDs are awesome - very low power and high contrast. Mouser stock them.

Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

@mikeselectricstuff wow, great suggestion!

Actually, a friend found that Metawatch, the kind of display I'm interested in (see link in my 1st post), is using MemoryLCD as confirmed by this post.
